Helping others with Nigerian Genealogy

We recently were surprised to hear from an Area Adviser who is doing remarkable work and whom we helped last year.  He is from Nigeria and you really don't realize the far reaching fingers of the Gospel until you receive a heartfelt memo like this:

"I want to use this opportunity to thank Ted and Karen Meyer STAKE Temple and Family History Consultants to for their support. The annual planner was a great resource to me.
Where are you is the question many familysearch center consultants here in Nigeria are asking.
Ted and Karen, you have been silent for some time now. You have been a great support to us here in Nigeria, specifically in the Enugu coordinating council, Africa West Area.
Ted and Karen, your blogs and newsletters were a great support to us here in Nigeria, Africa West Area. Please how can we still have some of your PowerPoint?
The attached is a Priesthood temple and family history training where your PowerPoint presentation was used and many were blessed. We love you and we will love to have you back fully. Please don't get tired in helping us."

We know there are lots of sources and we can't promise anything, but these places I made clickable and we truly hope you find something amazing in your heritage!!!

For our Area Adviser friend from Nigeria - Armstronv Tondual As you know people all over the world are doing Family History it is touching their hearts and opening them up to missionaries worldwide. Genealogy is the 3rd most popular hobby in the World.

Our friends in Nigeria recently posted on our group site Temple and Family History Consultants and Family History Consultants. If you aren't a member of this, please consider joining. You will get answers to your questions quickly and forward the work in your family.
What you wrote on our group Temple and Family History Consultants really touched our hearts. We try to help as many as possible. If there is ever a subject that you would like us to help with, please let us know.
Do you know what database to have them use for Nigerian research?
Make sure your people know about Partner Access then after that have them watch "The Bridge Method"
EVERYTHING YOU'VE EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT PARTNER ACCESS
USING THE BRIDGE METHOD OF genealogy you will actually witness people using this and gaining 5-10 generations. It is truly amazing. We felt there was a lack of training on how to use the partners effectively and introducing our method changed people's lives forever. They were able to unblock dead ends and gain opportunities for ordinances in the Temple.
NON PARTNERS BUT STILL VERY GOOD

Please enjoy and pass this along to those in the Nigeria Area. Our blessings to you and those who love you!I might copy this information and put it on our facebook page. I can also put it on our meyerandmeyerconsulting.blogspot.com for them to find if they lose the links.

The whole story...

We are so glad to keep in touch with all of you.  Since January, of last year, we conducted 12 Zoom calls, one each month even though I was in and out of the hospital with 5 hip surgeries.  Why 5???

The first one was a normal right hip surgery.  This time it was a new doctor who were were told was extremely good at this.  Everything seemed fine and I went home after just four days.  They said I lost a lot of blood and because of that I was a little lightheaded, but Ted helped me manage the pain and I felt good about my process.  On the fourth day at home, I was walking across the floor with my walker and looked down.  My right foot was oddly pointed out to the right at about a 55 degree angle.  I thought, "Gee I should try to walk straighter."  I straightened my leg and the next step brought disaster.  I heard a loud cracking sound like if someone had a handful of dried driftwood twigs and broke the bundle in half.  That's exactly what it sounds like to spiral fracture your femur, the largest bone in your body.

Ted rushed in when he heard me scream with my next step - he was very concerned and called 911 - pretty quickly, there was an ambulance, paramedics and they helped me get on the gurney and off I went.

The plan was to prepare for emergency surgery, however all the operating rooms were busy, so they kept me on morphine for two days, completely flat until the surgery could be arranged.

They cemented and braced the femur and the scar was about 14".  Then they put me in a wheelchair for 5 months with orders not to put any weight on it, not even a toe down.  On the appointment day, he said, "Ok, show me what you can do!"  I stood up and took a step.  It felt like rubber.  It didn't hold, It bent and shifted.  I guess my eyes said it all.  He didn't know why I had not healed in all that time and referred me to another doctor.

Dr. Werner knew exactly what was wrong.  The cement had oozed out of the fracture and could not form a bond.  He went in in September and did an incredible job.  However, by this time, my insurance plan had only allowed for 20 visits, and now I had had 3 major surgeries and 4 transfusions  and used them all up.

The insurance company said, "Just wait until January and start fresh!"  They probably should have extended the visits for immediate needed physical therapy, but I obeyed.

In January 2023, I went to the physical therapy place I had gone to for 15 years, since I moved here from California to marry Ted.  There was a new guy on board and he wanted to help stretch my hamstrings.  He lifted my knee to my chest and I felt some movement but not exactly pain, just weakness.  I told him I'd better call it a day.  I returned home and my let was completely black.  It was bleeding internally, and I was already still 3 units short.

The doctor was upset this guy had messed up his good work, so April 18, we went in again.  Again, I needed 2 units of blood.   One month later, I was sewing and noticed a pin sitting on my foot, not stuck in it, but nevertheless, I bent to pick my foot up and I put it on top of my knee.  This time, it was my fault.  I went to the living room and looked at Ted.  I didn't have to say a word.  He could read my face.

"What's wrong?" he asked.  I told him then we called the doctor and he had us come in for an xray.  I had pulled all the wires out and now they were stabbing all the tissue.  He said, "You are going to surgery in about 48 hours."

This time, problems occurred, again my bp dropped the worst was 65/40 and it was because I had lost more blood between the months of 4/18 and  5/18 - the last two surgeries.  The night of the surgery, they saw that I was drifting away and rushed me to intensive care.

I had an out of body experience and saw a light at the end of a foggy tunnel.  I could hear voices along the path, but I couldn't see anyone.  I thought I heard my dad's voice then I heard a man's voice that I can only imagine must have been the Lord.  He said, "It's not your time, you have much work to do."  Suddenly, in that fog, I was back in my body and could see people in white standing over my head, in a circle, and smiling,  then suddenly I opened my eyes to see similar faces only now they were in navy blue (real nurses).

They were happy to see me.  During that night Ted was at home and they called him to say they gave me 3 units of blood.  Right before they called him, he was sleeping in his chair in the living room and heard a voice repeatedly say, "Ted, Ted, Ted!"  He finally opened his eyes and no one was there so he was awake for the call and he got caught up.  At 8:00 am then next morning it happened again and woke him up, when he called, they were just administering 2 more units. I was now fine!

I believe in God and in his son Jesus Christ.  I believe in helping others find their families so they can be sealed together with all my heart.  I wonder if God spared my life to keep doing this type of work.

I'm just so grateful to know you all who have been following us.  thank you.  Though we were released and do not officially represent the church, we are available to help you as a friend and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.  If you are working with a non member and helping them with their family tree,   We have seen many miracles doing this.

The next blog is because of a wonderful thank you message I received from someone I met who was struggling with his calling.

He is an Area Adviser and is helping a whole huge flock of amazing people who are learning daily just like you and me!

Keep tuning in here and make sure you are getting our letter.  Yes, I took a break from the zooms, but we needed it and I stayed down this time and healed rather than going crazy trying to keep all the bathrooms and hobby rooms cleaned.
